Dahab, what used to be a small, tranquil Bedouin seaside
village 100 kilometers north from Sharm el Sheikh, has become a
popular spot for young, easy-going travelers. The encounter
between the traditional Bedouin way of life and the vitality of
youngsters from all over the world has created a singular
atmosphere. Cheap hostels, small seafood restaurants, diving clubs,
a large colorful bazaar are to be found here, and local Bedouins
will be delighted to take you for a ride on their camels. For the
amateur, the waters by Dahab's lighthouse offer a glimpse of the
treasures of the underwater World of the Red Sea, but experienced
divers will prefer to venture a bit northward to the
world-renowned diving sites of the "Canyon Reef" and "The Blue
Hole". The first, as its name suggest, is an underwater canyon 50
meter deep, both beautiful and challenging. The second, a bit
deeper, is a narrow crack a few into the clear water.
